Buccal fat removal reduces part of the naturally occurring fat pad within the cheek. It is intended to change fullness around the lower cheek rather than address all facial fat. The size of these pads varies, and one side may differ from the other. Assessment should consider the whole face, including current volume and likely changes with age. Already narrow faces may become overly hollow. A consultation should explain irreversible tissue removal, alternatives, possible complications and why the procedure may not suit your goals.
